Abstract
The aim of this study is clarifying and controlling the combustion of wooden vertical louvers through reduced- and full-scale experiments. In reduced-scale experiments, flame spread was sustained when the pitch is less than 72mm for 112mm deep blades. Flame spread was not sustained when the pitch was 96mm, still burnt six times higher than the source. Heat flux distributions within these louvers are practically predictable by considering radiative heat flux from facing blade.
