    Abstract

A basic construction concept for space structure systems using homogeneous modules with active connecting elements is introduced. From various considerations on erectable construction and deployment one, possible construction senarios for especially large structure systems are investigated. Some hardware designs of active connecting elements to realize the concept are carried out. Simuration result is also shown, in which many modules can move by themselves based on local information under the cellular automata rules to form an object configuration.
