A collective-coordinate quantization of skyrmions and pion-nucleon scattering

We present a canonical quantization of skyrmions which enables us to calculate higher-order pion-nucleon scattering amplitudes as well as Born amplitudes. The subsidiary conditions imposed on the quantum field and its conjugate momentum are chosen in such a way that all infrared singurarities associated with the zero-frequency modes are eliminated from both these fields. We show that the Born terms with recoil corrections are reproduced by the pion-baryon quadratic interaction of O(Nc0) and the pion-baryon linear interaction of O(Nc- 1 2).
