    Abstract

As the electric power demand increases, power systems become larger and more complex. Thus, in order to keep the reliability, fast contingency screenings are desired in power system operations. However in transient stability analysis, it is difficult to find how stable the system is for contingencies and the calculation time is considerably long, especially for N-th swing stability. In this paper, we propose a fast contingency screening method for N-th swing transient stability evaluation using new index. With the application of the proposed method we can obtain the transient stability evaluation very fast. Simulations are carried out using an IEEJ EAST 10 machine 47 bus system to confirm the validity of the proposed method.
