    Abstract

This paper proposes a scheme for realizing simultaneously frame timing and carrier frequency synchronization in OFDM systems for wireless packet communications. Data symbols, which are frequency shifted by the half of subcarrier spacing based on the pattern of Barker sequence, are utilized as pilot symbols for the synchronization. The reduction of transmission efficiency could be minimized by carrying the data information on the pilot symbols. The performance evaluation by means of computer simulation demonstrates the good characteristics of the proposed system against the small Doppler frequency shift.
