Abstract
A performance comparison is presented between two types of IrDA protocol sets: IrBurst protocol and IrOBEX protocol for high-speed exchange of large data contents. Simulation results are presented which reveal that the IrBurst protocol significantly outperforms the existing IrOBEX protocol for transmission of large data contents at high data rates. The effect of lower layer parameters, such as link layer window size and physical layer minimum turnaround time, that significantly impacts the performance of these protocols is also examined.
