Abstract

The role of warning systems' dissemination and of associated preparation acts have supported the decrease of number of deaths caused by emergencies and disasters. Nowadays, computers are been programmed to automatically respond to alerts, notifying the right people and triggering correlated alert response procedures. In this sense, this paper describes a platform approach, the Pervasive Communities for Alerting Platform (PerCAP), for alert notification and response support which explores the cooperation among heterogeneous computational entities in order to disseminate alert messages and to achieve user-centered and system-centered response tasks even in the presence of software and network failures.
