A review of loss-of-mains protection for distributed resources

    Abstract

    Loss-of-mains protection methods for distributed resources are reviewed and special emphasis is put on the "active method", which have been mainly developed in Japan for rotational type embedded generations. Finally, a new concept of an islanded operation will be introduced. That is a secure, reliable and stable islanded system by using a information technologies and power electronics devices.
