Abstract

An experiment using a cell with segmented current collectors and a numerical simulation using a 2-D simulation model were carried out to study the fuel cell performance and the mass transport phenomena in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. The result shows that the increase in concentration over-voltage at high loads and the dry-out phenomena of the membrane depend on the characteristics of the porous materials for the gas diffusion layers.
