N2 - The Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 (ALOS-2) was successfully launched on 24th May, 2014, carrying the state-of-the-art L-band synthetic aperture radar, PALSAR-2. The satellite was developed and is stably operated by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). As of January 2018, the satellite bus system and PALSAR-2 system are working very well. The PALSAR-2 data were acquired based on a systematic observation strategy to achieve consistent data acquisitions in time and space. JAXA also respond to the emergency observation requests for disasters. The observation data are distributed to both scientific and commercial users and utilized for disaster monitoring, environmental monitoring, and many other fields of applications.
