Abstract

In this study, a designing method of the control system in the field weakening control region for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), is proposed to enhance the torque control performance. Control parameters are designed by analyzing frequency characteristics of the control system using the q-axis current. The proposed controller designing method is examined by both numerically and experimentally to verify that it is effective enough to be applied to motor drive systems with wider field weakening region such as railway vehicle traction systems.
