Abstract

SBHS has better mechanical characteristics than those of conventional steel. In order to apply SBHS to bridges, the load carrying capacity must be investigated. To obtain data on the load carrying capacity and the buckling behavior, the uniaxial compression tests with cruciform columns made of SBHS400 were conducted. The experimental results were compared with the previous evaluation and it was found that cruciform columns made of SBHS400 can be evaluated by the ultimate strength curves in the previous studies.
