Abstract

This paper describes an optimal design of a highly homogeneous superconducting coil system for magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The presented optimal design technique is based on a combination of a numerical Method for analysis of the magnetic field distribution and a mathematical programning method for solving the corresponding optimization problem. In this paper, the coil current density, the croos-sectional shape of coil, and the configuration of coil are optimizer so that a highly homogeneous magnetic field is realized.
