Abstract

The purpose of the system is to make it possible to generate a diagnostic program automatically for a sequentially controlled machine, such as transfer lines or material flow systems in parallel with developing a control program. The system is based on state diagramming techniques. A machine state diagram is developed to describe operations of a machine, and to simulate abnormal operations of a machine when various failures occur. From the machine state diagram it is also possible to generate a controller state diagram which is used to develop a control program for microprocessor based sequential controllers. An experimental system is developed using PASCAL language aiming at portability and easy implementation into a small microcomputer system.
