Abstract

Most of the indoor wireless sensor networks need timely information from sensors during normal and specially emergency situation. Generally a sensor network is designed with sufficient capacity to meet the requirement in normal situation. The design consideration also includes the emergency situation to support up to certain level of emergency. But the emergency situation is unpredictable and difficult to predict the level of the emergency. On the other hand in emergency situation timely information is more important for the system. Moreover extra messages are necessary to transmit from sink node to emergency areas during the emergency situation to control the emergency fault. This article discusses about the timely message transmission in an indoor wireless sensor networks during normal operation and emergency situation. In this paper we adopt a Heterogeneous Sensor Network (HSN) model for the system. We propose a new technology to achieve the timeliness in message transmission in the network. The propose technology uses local coordination to switch connected sensors to control the congestion of the network for timeliness. The simulation results show that the proposed technology effectively solves the timeliness problem.
