Abstract

The bending loss of the LP₁₁ mode is successfully measured by utilising an optical heterodyne interferometer. The experimental results are in good agreement with theory. The group delay difference between the LP₀₁ and LP₁₁ modes can simultaneously be evaluated by means of the technique.
