Abstract

Callysponginol sulfate A (1) was isolated from the marine sponge Callyspongia truncata as a membrane type 1 matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) inhibitor. Its structure was elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic and chemical methods and found to be a new sulfated C24 acetylenic fatty acid. Compound 1 inhibited MT1-MMP with an IC50 of 15.0 μg/mL.
