Abstract

The possibility of the realization of a chaotic inflationary scenario is investigated in curved spacetime in which the inflaton couples nonminimally with the spacetime curvature such as (1/23/4R2. It is found that the coupling effect prevents the scenario from working unless 3/4 is at least smaller than 10-3 or negative.
