Abstract

We examine the relationship between passage time and clime change in the North Pacific using a climate index, the North Pacific Index, as one of the basic studies with respect to the influence of navigation on climate change. We have performed the navigation simulation along the great circle route between Tokyo and San-Francisco. Although climate change (global atmospheric change), waves and navigation have different spatial and temporal scales, respectively, we show that there is some possibility of the relationship between navigation and climate change in the summer and autumn in spite of simple data arrangement. However, the relationship in the winter and spring seasons has not been significant.
