Abstract

A finite-difference method is developed to solve a flow with a phase change by direct integration of the Navier-Stokes equations and the heat conduction equation. In the calculation, a moving grid is generated so that it fits smoothly the liquid-solid interface and strict boundary conditions can be imposed on that interface. Using this method, a pipe flow with unsteady solidification along the pipe wall was studied numerically.
