Abstract

Using a molecule that can be accurately modeled, it was shown how nonresonant radiation can control dissociation. It was emphasized that a beat wave provides a simple method to achieve this control. It was possible to produce a precisely timed series of three pulses, each as short as 5 fs in duration and with arbitrary pulse separations.
