Abstract
There are many issues in the fluorescence and powder characteristics of blue-emitting phosphor, strontium chloroapatite doped with europium (II), through solid-phase reaction. However, the improvements of these issues are incomplete. In our previous papers, because co-precipitation of impurities can not be avoided, desirable phosphors have not been obtained through precipitation method in the water solvent environment, too. In this paper, methanol environment was selected in the precipitation method, to improve the characteristics of the phosphor. Precipitation in the methanol solvent system could avoid co-precipitation of the impurity, such as strontium hydroxyapatite. And also characteristics of the fluorescence color given by precipitated crystals were improved, and their crystal sizes decreased to be submicron size. It was recognized that precipitation method in methanol system became effective to create strontium chloroapatite doped with europium (II).
