Abstract

This paper describes a data transmission architecture including layer configurations on a wideband-spreading Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) system. The W-CDMA system transmits the unrestricted high speech data up to 64 kbps. 14.4 kbps voiceband data and 9.6 kbps Group 3 facsimile are transmitted through the ADPCM coder under typical condition. The W-CDMA also supports transparent and non-transparent data transmissions for asynchronous and synchronous data, and facsimile. The W-CDMA system has been proposed for a North American Standard of personal communications in 1.85 to 1.99 GHz radio frequency band.
