    Abstract

We proposed a lens for reading glasses based on a light sword optical element (LSOE) that was designed to eliminate discontinuity. The characteristics of the lens were evaluated assuming a simplified presbyopic eye model. The results show the extended depth of focus of the lens and the improved image quality compared with that for an LSOE at different viewing angles.
