Abstract

An overview is presented of the key role for heavy-metal compounds in medicine with a focus on DNA binding, and on Pt compounds used in treatment of cancer. Molecular aspects of the mechanism of action are reviewed in more detail and the consequences of structural distortions will be elucidated.
