Abstract
With the remarkable growth of the Internet and multimedia communication environments, the demand for multi-model communication has been increasing in place of the conventional telephone. In this paper, we describe applications that use the high-quality low-complexity speech coder DualSpeech developed by NTT. DualSpeech/DATA is voice and data communication software that enables full-duplex real-time speech communication, picture communication, file transfer, and cooperative working via a communication line without any additional signal processors. DualSpeech/MAIL is a voice-mailing tool combined with e-mail software. On the DualSpeech Internet home page, practical multimedia services have begun.
