N2 - When irregular waves travel to the shoreline, long wave component becomes important in the surf zone. In the surf zone, sands are transported by both wave motion and turbulence due to wave breaking. The wave motion consists of variety of periods of waves from long wave to short wave. In the present study, the role of long wave to local sediment transport rate is analyzed by laboratory experiments and numerical experiments. It is concluded that the long wave component gives a important effect to the local net sand transport rate, in particular in the vicinity of shoreline.
