Abstract

In this study three points bending tests were carried out on the cloth laminates which are widely used. To investigate the size effect on the nominal bending strength, two kinds of similar specimens were prepared and the notch root radius was changed by a wide range. The occurrence of the damage and the size of it at the maximum load point were investigated. Furthermore, the acoustic emission method and the measurement of strain distribution with strain gages were applied to clarify the fracture behavior in a loading process. The effect of the notch root radius on the fracture was investigated experimentally.
