Abstract
Effect of cumylalcohol on the space charge formation in polyethylene (PE) was discussed. Additive-free low-density polyethylene (LDPE) sheets of 100 and 200μm thickness, density of 0.92 g/cm3 and melt flow rate (MFR) of 1.0 g/10min were employed as samples. Three types of specimens were employed to investigate the effects of cumylalcohol. It was found that if acetophenone or α-methylstyrene is present in LDPE, the conductivity becomes higher and carrier transport becomes accelerated. Despite that cumylalcohol increases conductivity and LDPE traps carriers in the presence of cumylalcohol.
