Abstract
This paper describes Fujitsu's activities in the field of bandwidth compression of TV signals. Activities are classified into three categories. The first is research and development of technologies to be used for broadcast quality TV signals. The second is dedicated to TV conferencing systems. The third is that of high-definition TV whose bandwidth is almost seven times as wide as that of standard TV signals. Key technologies and their application to products are described.
