Abstract

Interest in transition-metal oxides is no longer limited to high-temperature superconductivity but is also directed to metal-insulator transitions, giant magnetoresistance, charge and orbital ordering, spin-gap formation, non-Fermi-liquid behavior, and so on. Progress in this field has been made possible by the development of various experimental techniques, theoretical methods and new physical concepts as well as by the discovery of new materials.
