Abstract

To comprehend the actual condition of primary energy consumption, this study investigates the public elementary schools in the S ward, Tokyo, with cooling facilities in the classroom. Comparing the calculation by "Building Energy Efficiency Act", the following conclusions were obtained. The average primary energy consumption intensity of the S ward elementary schools significantly exceeded the national average. The Building Perimeter Index (BPI) of school with new specifications is lower than that of school with conventional specifications. But for the Building Energy Index (BED. the values have been reversed The design value of the primary energy consumption calculated by "Building Energy Efficiency Act" is about 3/4 of the measured value of the primary energy consumption of the school as a whole.
