Abstract

We have investigated the effect of the insertion of Co50Fe 50 layers at ferromagnet/spacer interfaces on magnetoresistance (MR) properties in current-perpendicular-to-plane giant MR devices using Co 2Mn(Ga0.5Sn0.5) Heusler alloy layers. The insertion of 1 nm thick Co50Fe50 layers led to a large enhancement of MR outputs with a large temperature dependence of MR. Smaller temperature dependences were observed for the insertion of Co 50Fe50 layers of thicker than 2 nm, but only with less enhancement of MR outputs.
