Abstract

The understanding of a relationship between office design and intellectual productivity is becoming increasingly important due to the introduction of new styles of working, such as activity-based working (ABW). The satisfaction of subjects, such as office workers, was examined in both an ABW office and a conventional office. Based on questionnaire results, changes were made to the ABW office layout to resolve dissatisfaction. As a result, compared to a conventional office, we found that not only the introduction of various furniture and free seats, but also devising to change space planning according to anticipated actions led to an improvement satisfaction.
