Abstract

Limited Energy is a challenge in Underwater Sensor Network (UWSN). To solve the energy problem in UWSN, this paper puts forward a new energy-aware routing algorithm, called Energy-Saving Vector Based Forwarding Protocol (ES-VBF). The main purpose of the new routing protocol is saving energy. ES-VBF puts both residual energy and localization information into consideration while calculating desirableness factor. By simulation, it shows that the ES-VBF algorithm increases the residue energy, reduces value of mean square error and prolongs the lifetime of network without worsening the packet reception ratio (PRR) apparently.
