Abstract

Partial trimethylsilyl derivatives have been prepared from hemimorphite, Zn₄Si₂O₇(OH)₂·H₂O by direct trimethylsilylation and analysed by means of combined gas-liquid partition chromatography-mass spectrometry. Silanol groups of the hemimorphite which are not trimethylsilylated are esterified by the alcohol used as the organic solvent in the trimethylsilylating reagent.
