Abstract

Single-sided wood/soil walls used for the boudary of historic town houses in Kyoto do not have sufficient performance to prevent penetration of fires in adjacent building. In order to achieve compatibility of the restoration of such buildings with utilization for business application, it is necessary to develop reinforcement method for their fire performance. In this study, effectiveness of the reinforcement of the internal surface of the pillars with wood plate is verified with full-scale furnace test. The result revealed its effectiveness in achieving the fire performance required by current regulation.
