Abstract

The Map Document Architecture (MDA), an attempt to extend the standard ODA (Office Document Architecture), is proposed. The logical and layout structures of maps and their content architecture are shown. A map processing model that makes the map data processing clear is proposed. In the ODA, layout structure defines the rectangle area in which texts and other data should be drawn. The proposed model is able to use both nonrectangle and rectangle area.
