Abstract

This paper presents a method to estimate errors in measured weight fractions independently of errors in measured flowrates and reduce component balances to linear relationships among errors in measured flowrates. This makes it possible to use component balances in fault diagnosis of flowmeters in order to improve diagnostic results. Results of a feasibility test in a commercial plant are also reported to show its performance and limitations.
