Abstract

Fuel Cells (FCs) powered railway vehicles may be the one of the strongest candidates to cope with the problems on the diesel engines such as the noise, vibration, and emission with them, and may improve the their environmental compatibility. We've been studying to apply FCs to multiple unit type railway vehicles' traction system for several years. In this paper, we present results of feasibility study and mention required items of related technologies.
