Abstract
This paper describes a time pattern approximation of the spectral envelopes by a quadratic surface. This model can express an elliptic paraboloid, a parabolic cylinder, a hyperbolic paraboloid and a plane. An efficient estimation method of the coefficients is given. Some examples applied for voiceless plosives are shown.
