Abstract

The fungus resistance properties of vermiculite board, and a comparison with calcium silicate and gypsum wall boards were presented. Cladosporium cladosporioides de Vries, a variety of black mold frequently found on concrete and building products was used in the study. No mycelium was found on the vermiculite crystals existing on the surface of the vermiculite board. As a result of halo test, the vermiculite single crystals demonstrated inhibition of mold growth, which indicated bacteriostasis of vermiculite.
