Games for learning social dilemmas: From the viewpoint of enhancing knowledge, morality, and trust

Abstract

Dawes (1980) highlighted three important factors that can enhance cooperation in situations involving social dilemmas: knowledge, morality, and trust. In the previous research, though two of three psychological factors: knowledge, morality, and trust were enhanced, not all three factors could be enhanced. Therefore, a game that has 'individual and group roles' and 'multiple generations' roles' was developed According to the experimental results; the game could enhance morality and knowledge but could not enhance trust. This result illustrated some effects and limits of games for learning social dilemmas.
