Abstract
Femtosecond pulses were shaped to square shaped picosecond pulses with a phase-only filter. The system used consists of a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser oscillator, a pulse shaping apparatus, a pulse stretcher, a regenerative amplifier and a pulse compressor. Although the amplifier caused some phase distortion, the experimental results are in good agreement with numerical simulations.
