Abstract
The pressure response of the tangential G band of double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) synthesised by means of catalytic chemical vapour deposition is compared with that of their peapod-derived analogues. For both samples, the screening of the pressure exerted on the internal tubes is reflected in the pressure response of the corresponding G peaks. The different nanotube diameter and intratube spacing distributions in the two studied DWCNT materials differentiate the pressure dependence of several G band components.
