N2 - The Internet has been rapidly penetrating into almost all of the traditional industrial areas. Considering the fact that industrial internet applications may be used in production-manufacturing control and other scenarios, a more robust and secure network is required. However, the current Internet is established based on the TCP/IP model with the 'best-effort' characteristic resulting in efficiency and flexibility challenges. In order to evolve the Internet to make it suitable for more flexible and efficient content-centric routing, a novel identification service called IDEA (Identification based Deft networking with Elastic Attributes) is proposed in this paper.
