Abstract

The impact of the dispersion map on long-haul 40 Gbit/s single-channel transmission with periodic dispersion compensation is experimentally investigated. It is confirmed that the transmission performance was significantly varied with the dispersion map, which is the optimized dispersion map for 40 Gbit/s transmission. By using the optimum dispersion map, 40 Gbit/s single-channel transmission over 10200 km has been achieved.
