In vivo measurement of superoxide anion radical by means of electrode modified with electropolymerized iron porphyrin

Abstract

Iron meso-tettakis(3-thiofuryl)porphyrin (FeT3ThP) complexes were synthesized and electropolymerized onto a carbon microelectrode. Heparin/polypyrrole membrane, which can be expected for antithrombogenicity and conductivity, was electropolymerized on the porphyrin-modified electrodes. The obtained modified electrodes were applied to a Superoxide anion (O 2) sensor to detect the catalytic oxidation current of O2. Chronoamperometory revealed that quantitative O2 sensing could be performed using the polymerized FeT3 ThP covered with heparin/polypyrrole film with antithrombogenicity.
