The authors would like to thank M. Ishikawa for discussions. One of the authors (M.K.) thanks M. Nakamura for helpful comments on the singlet–triplet level crossing method. The exact diagonalization program is partly based on the subroutine package “ Titpack Ver. 2” coded by H. Nishimori. This work is financially supported by a Grant-in-Aid for the “Research for the Future” Program from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science under the project JSPS-RFTF97P01103.

N2 - We numerically demonstrate that the spin-gap and the pairing correlation are enhanced, if the band structure is adjusted to become flat at the Fermi level near half-filling in strongly correlated electron systems. We show indications that the incoherent charge transport may give rise to the superconducting instability in doped Mott insulators. Based on the numerical results, we discuss the possibility of flat-band induced superconductivity.
