Abstract

This paper proposes the inter-symbol interference (ISI) suppression scheme employing periodic signals for coded MIMO-OFDM systems. The feature of the proposed approach is to choose the appropriate transmission mode composed of traditional non-periodic signals or periodic signals with only even-numbered sub-carriers according to the delay spread. To provide the selection criterion for choosing between these transmission modes, we develop the theoretical bit error rate (BER) estimation method using the correlation calculation for coded MIMO-OFDM. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated in comparison with the traditional non-periodic symbol transmission.
